Allylic and benzylic sp3 C-H oxidation in water.

A copper-catalyzed method for the oxidation of allylic and benzylic sp(3) C-H by aqueous tert-butyl hydroperoxide (T-Hydro) in water using a recyclable fluorous ligand has been developed. The reaction procedure is tolerant to additional functional groups and the fluorous ligand could be reused with little loss of catalytic activity.

Oxidation of allylic and benzylic alcohols to aldehydes and carboxylic acids.

An oxidation of allylic and benzylic alcohols to the corresponding carboxylic acids is effected by merging a Cu-catalyzed oxidation using O2 as a terminal oxidant with a subsequent chlorite oxidation (Lindgren oxidation). The protocol was optimized to obtain pure products without chromatography or crystallization. Interception at the aldehyde stage allowed for Z/E-isomerization, thus rendering ...

Tuneable asymmetric copper-catalysed allylic amination and oxidation reactions.

Asymmetric allylic amination or oxidation can be achieved by reaction of an alkene with a peroxycarbamate catalysed by a chiral copper bis-oxazoline complex, and the reaction can be tuned to give either the amination or oxidation product by reagent choice.

Catalytic reactions of chlorite with a polypyridylruthenium(II) complex: disproportionation, chlorine dioxide formation and alcohol oxidation.

cis-[Ru(2,9-Me(2)phen)(2)(OH(2))(2)](2+) reacts readily with chlorite at room temperature at pH 4.9 and 6.8. The ruthenium(II) complex can catalyze the disproportionation of chlorite to chlorate and chloride, the oxidation of chlorite to chlorine dioxide, as well as the oxidation of alcohols by chlorite.

Transition metal-catalyzed allylic substitution reactions with unactivated allylic substrates.

The transition metal-catalyzed allylic substitution of unactivated allylic substrates (allylic alcohols, allylic ethers and allylic amines) is rapidly becoming an important area of research. There are several advantages to using these substrates in allylic substitution reactions: the use of unactivated alcohols minimizes the production of waste by-products and reaction steps; and allylic ethers...
